“How shall I come Lord?”

As I came in prayer today, I pondered this question....... “Shall” I come as Peter did in your defense in the garden or as Hannah did with her heart choking her words?  Shall I come as David seeking your truth in the middle of his soul or as Mary weeping your tears at the tomb of Lazarus? Shall I come as John hearing you as thunder or as Elijah hearing you as a whisper? How shall I come Lord?

Shall I come as a child who only wants your hand or as one who is aged, desperate to see your face? Shall I come as Abraham believing the miracle is coming with no sign of a manifest promise or shall I come as Moses hoping you are who you said you are? Shall I come as Paul with the power to change a culture or as Samson with the force to change it? How shall I come Lord?

Shall I come as “one crying in the wilderness” like John the Baptist did, never willing to rest until repentance was seen across the land or as Titus who refused to count the opinions of others worthy of his heart? Shall I come as Timothy holding on to the radical truth that Christ will make a difference through me if I persevere or as Gideon who would not let the pride of a nation consume him and instead was consumed by you. Shall I come as Deborah who was willing to push your righteousness through for your honor or as Barak who was willing to be led into your glory? How shall I come Lord?

Shall I come as Jeremiah who was willing to look like a fool or as Ezekiel who was misunderstood? Shall I come as Noah did in the face of an angry and accusing people or as Pilate did when he knew the truth but could not make it count. Shall I come as Esther unsure and undone, but willing to trust you or as Jonah who for the sake of your cause remembered who you were to get over himself? How shall I come Lord?

Shall I come as Samuel willing to tolerate an evil people to see your desires manifest upon them or as Amos who left everything he knew to embrace that which he did not know, for the sake of obeying you? Shall I come as Isaiah who was willing to allow his gifts to make him so different that he could no longer “fit in” or as Joseph who was willing to forgive beyond what human heart and flesh have been taught?  How shall I come Lord?

Shall I come as Uzziah who for the sake of himself forgot his heart belonged to you or as Hezekiah who one day succumbed to the evil pride that surrounded him? Shall I come as Jehu who won a mighty battle for you but was at risk of losing his own salvation or as Caleb who craved the adventure of an impossible walk up a mountain with you? Shall I come as the bride or the church, the church or the multitude? How shall I come Lord?

Shall I come as Martha needing to stop my chores and notice you or as Jarius who noticed you across the multitude as you ushered him into his miracle? Shall I come as the woman who touched your hem, crawling and clinging, gasping for air, refusing to be denied or as the woman at the well declaring to townspeople, “I have seen the Christ, Behold He knows all things.”? Shall I come seeking the Lion of Judah or the Lamb that was slain? How shall I come Lord?

And the answer echoes back through the ageless, seamless, timeless moments of every life that has ever lived: “Come unto me, come just as you are and I will give you rest.”

Come to Him today in the stillness of this moment, simply “Come.”

For the sake of the gospel and the Love of the Lord, Sandi

A Personal Note:
It’s always such an amazing pleasure to see God’s people rally around His causes. Recently, I was able to be at a public meeting where every type of person was there. Many different denominations were shouting at injustice. It was not “their cause” or the concern of “their church”, denomination or community, it was the honor of God and decency of mankind in Americathat they were shouting to. They were demanding that honor and decency rise up and be noticed…… and so it shall. Our foundation is set and sure, it is unshakeable and demands to be seen.  God has formed us and so He will guide us.  Steady on..........
