Hints for solving a Cryptogram:

The ones with the longest solutions are the easiest.  Start with one of those.

Look for nearly completed and small, common words.  When you strongly suspect a letter, write it in, and write it's number on the chart.

When you are certain of a letter, write it everywhere that number appears.

Refer to the title often, and look for possible words that relate to it.

When a word is missing only one letter, scan through the unsolved letters on the chart.  Perhaps only one of them will work.

Look for two of the same number together.  This indicates a double letter, and not all of the letters can be doubled.

If you see a number appearing frequently, check the chart for available vowels, or other common letters.

Look for things like common prefixes and suffixes.

If the question is plural, the answer may be as well.

Trust your instincts.

If a letter only works in one word, let it go.  It's probably wrong.

Check to see if a number was already used and you overlooked that blank.  It happens.

Try to read the solution out loud with the letters you have.  Sometimes you hear things you can't see.

As always, you can e-mail Brenda for help!
