Note from Sandi

I don't suppose there are enough words to declare the goodness of the Lord.  I feel like Hannah whose mouth moved and words just would not come.  I know, as you do, what it is to have a full heart.  The words are tumbled up together like a family of puppies who just can't get out of each other's way.  They are new and unknown to me and come from the place where my spirit alone talks to the Almighty, our Faithful Redeemer and Knightly King.  As my spirit takes on a new life, beyond my own, I ponder where it will go and wonder at the adventures it may take standing beside our Father. 

God, may it be for this people as you told David, that in the morning You are "STILL with us"  that when we lay down, our "sleep will be sweet" and when we rise up you have "ordained our steps."   Lord, may our hearts and minds never offend your desires in us and may this year be full of your design upon us... the unchangeable plan, the immoveable idea of God upon mere flesh; being provoked and performed by the one who created them... the Savior and King of the whole wide earth.  

Martin and Sandi's Grandson!

    Abel Martin-Jose Reynoso will be here in the Springtime.  Due date is April 8th.  Sandi wants him to come on her birthday, the 15th, Martin wants him to come on his birthday, the 11th.  Cynthia wants him to come in March because "there are too many birthdays in April."  Omar?  He just wants his son!  Thanks for praying and holding our family precious as your own.

    Many of you are asking what you can do for the baby and want to know where Cynthia is registered.  She will be registering soon at Babies R Us.  So now ya know.   

Donny Update

We had an emergency last week when it appeared that Donny's kidneys were shutting down.  He was admitted to the hospital and you prayed and God heard!  Many of you did all night vigil...  This would be lots harder without your help, so thanks for that.  We are the family of God, but we are also the army of God!  This truth the devil clearly understands.  We have prevailed in prayer as the Lord is so faithful. 

”When we cried unto the Lord God, He heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression: and the LORD brought us forth with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, with greatness, and with signs, and with wonders."  Deuteronomy 26:7-8

Was it the Cocoa You Wanted?*  

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests cocoa, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot and an assortment of cups--porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal; some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite--telling them to help themselves to the cocoa.

When all the students had a cup of cocoa in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice-looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.  While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

"What all of you really wanted was cocoa, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups.

"Now consider this:  Life is the cocoa, and the jobs, money and position in society are the cups.

"They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and do not change the quality of Life. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the cocoa God has provided.

"So, don't let the cups drive you ... Enjoy the cocoa instead."

New Building Update

January is the month of transition.  Pray all goes well and according to God's plan.  We have the City planning department variance meeting where the community will come and speak about their ideas and thoughts of a church going into their neighborhood.  We will also be restructuring things with the contractor to create more opportunity for us to do the construction work.  This will require more cash up front than we planned on and more volunteer expertise than we thought.  So, we wait for the Lord to put the team in place.  In the meantime, we pray over our new location and know that the Lord is preparing it to His perfect plan.  In my heart I ache a bit as I consider moving away from the liquor store... so many come in before they buy their bottle and so many more come in after they do!  So, please pray that there will be those to help them after we leave.

Spiritual Body Builders

The first Monday in February, start reading Micah 6-7 and Psalms 17-19.  If you would like to be a Spiritual Body Builder, contact our office for a brochure with instructions, or download it by going to the link below.  Recordings of many of the discussions are available in the Audio/Video Media System.  The Body Builder scriptures are the basis for the Wednesday Night Bible Study as well.

Love Alliance

The Love Alliance Marriage Enrichment Course begins Monday, February 9 at the Revival Center.  The six-week course, taught by Rev. Sandi Querin, is for married couples only.  It concludes with “A Night to Remember” dinner dance on March 21.  Tickets for the dance are available until March 1 and cost $75.00 per couple.  See Jessica Luper. Your ticket also enters you in a raffle to win a weekend in Cayucos.  The dance is open to all couples, not just those taking the course.

Missions Team Heading for South Africa

A team of seven people is raising funds and making preparations to serve among the poorest of the poor in South Africa this summer.  It will be a spiritual, emotional, and physical challenge for them as they minister to people living in garbage dumps who need to hear the Good News that Jesus loves them.  Keep them in your prayers.
