God is at Work Around Us:

            His name was Ron and he was homeless, although he didn’t consider himself so.  He said he suffered in the war and couldn’t be around people much, so he took all that he had and bought a van.  He lives in it over by the lake and so he says he is not really homeless.  He has his daily routine that he says keeps him sane.  Or at least he did.  This broken-down man, who once defended our country, would wander its streets in pain and torments hardly noticed.

            Some of the other “homeless crew” who frequent the RC told me that he had an accident and didn’t make it.  Tears run down my face and my heart is broken as I remember the day he came to us … 

            He stood by the door.  He was our first homeless encounter.  We were learning what to do.  We were learning the smell and the wandering eyes and words that don’t make sense… and the heart of pure delight and hope.  We were learning then and still are.  But, Ron was our first teacher.  The next week he came and moved to the back row from the back wall.  More people hugged him and embraced who he was.  The next week he moved to center service and walked up front and accepted Jesus as His Lord and Life!  He brought others with him the next service and they said they felt like “people and not things.”  Ron taught us how.  I hope we don’t ever forget.

            He brought many of his friends into this house and they all received Christ, almost immediately.  They still come and bring others.  Sometimes they wander in at a staff meeting and just sit and cry.  It’s a beautiful thing to see.  Ron would be glad!  We will miss him, but know that his comfort has finally arrived in the arms of Jesus. 

            Next time you see a hurting person, remember Ron and let them teach you how to minister to the Lord.

Miracle Crusades

An amazing variety of people from a vast group of denominations are attending to be reminded that we serve a living Savior full of power and might.  He can overcome anything that you bring to Him.  Throw the doctrine and differences out and know this……. Jesus is enough, because Calvary is accomplished!

          They said we could only have a 5’6” cross on the new building….. That’s dumb.  Not even big enough for a man to be on.  I said “I hate that, it has to be bigger.”  The sign man said, “Well, you don’t have a freeway next to you so you don’t really need a freeway sign.”  I looked at him and I couldn’t help the tears from flowing….. I tried, but to no avail.  I said to him, “But it’s the cross and the cross brings such hope to so many, they have to see it.”  He said that it was the code and there was nothing he could do.  I wanted to know how to petition for a bigger cross.  We have to have a bigger cross.  He said it couldn’t be done.  I looked at him and said, “But, it’s the CROSS.”  He smiled and gave me a hug and said he’d see what he could do.  I have been so bothered by this creepy, shrimpy cross.  Well, we have got the news.  We can have an 8’ Cross on the building!  They will be beautiful neon signs that will be lit up 24 hours a day, marking the way to our Jesus!

          I couldn’t help it, I ordered two crosses.  There’s the cross on the front of the building… But the side of the building faces an apartment complex and it was just crying out for an 8’ neon cross.  So, I told the guy to make another one. 

            When “the Holy Ghost hop” happens, when our spirit leaps at something, we can’t stop to ask how much or how high or what if.  The Lord says to count the cost … And we did that when we got saved and it cost some of us much… worth the cost.  The rest of this stuff is well, just stuff.  Join us on this roller coaster ride, we are having a blast!  This 1.1 million dollar building that the Lord said to buy is taking care of itself.  We have not one problem.  Thanks for your part in it.
