Note from Sandi
The year is beginning to descend upon itself now with the arrival of September and I've been thinking of the wonderful things the Lord wants to bring to us before this year is out. I pray that we do not miss all the wonderful softly spoken things of God that are waiting off in the distance hoping to be presented by the Lord when we become ready!
Luke Chapter 24 is a perfect example of the Two Mandates of Walking in Spiritual Authority: 1) Show up, and 2) Pay Attention
Look what happened because instead of "showing up" to embrace what the Lord would present to them, they were complaining and not paying attention:
Luke 24:13-31
"And, behold, two of them (speaking of the disciples) went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. (about a seven- mile journey) And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?"
May be always be "about the Father's business." Much love to you, Sandi
A Lesson in Guidance
It was already late fall and the Indians on a remote reservation in South Dakota asked their new Chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild.
Since he was a chief in a modern society, he had never been taught the Old Secrets. When he looked at the sky, he couldn’t tell what the winter was going to be like.
Nevertheless, to be on the safe side, he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold, and that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared.
But being a practical leader, after several days he got an idea. He went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service, and asked, “Is the coming winter going to be cold?”
“It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold,” the Meteorologist at the Weather Service responded. So the Chief went back to his people and told them to collect even more firewood in order to be prepared.
A week later he called the National Weather Service again. "Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?"
"Yes," The man at the National Weather Service again replied, "It's going to be a very cold winter."
The Chief again went back to his people and ordered them to collect every scrap of firewood they could find.
Two weeks later the Chief called the National Weather Service again. "Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"
Absolutely," the man replied. "It's looking more and more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters we've ever seen."
How can you be so sure?" The Chief asked.
The weatherman replied, "The Indians are collecting firewood like crazy."
