As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S. Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view ... it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments!*
The pediment located on the east facade of the Supreme Court, is about 18 feet tall and 60 feet long. It emphasizes the contributions of Eastern and Mediterranean civilizations to the development of law. Moses, with the two tablets of Israelite law, is the central figure. (www.moseshand.com) 
A display of Moses the Lawgiver holding the Ten Commandments is located directly above the Justices' bench in the Chamber of the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. The same display is featured on the bronze doors leading into the Chamber. And Moses is one of 23 marble relief portraits of lawgivers displayed over the gallery doors of the House of Representatives. As you enter the Supreme Court courtroom, the two huge oak doors have the Ten Commandments engraved on the lower portion of each door.*
The Supreme Court Building is significant because of its associatio n with the Supreme Court of the United States. At the laying of the cornerstone for the Supreme Court Building on October 13, 1932, Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes stated it best when he said: "The Republic endures and this is the symbol of its faith."
James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our Constitution" made the following statement: "We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God." *
